LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former University of Kentucky football player Harold Dennis will be featured on the Montel Williams television show on Wednesday, April 30.
Dennis is a survivor of the 1988 bus crash near Carrollton, Ky., in which 27 people died. He was 14 years old when the accident occurred and he sustained severe burns over much of his body.
Dennis joined the Kentucky football team in 1994 as a walk-on kicker, then moved to wide receiver when the coaches saw his speed. He played in 18 games as a Wildcat, caught five passes, returned 10 kickoffs for a 23-yard average, and earned two varsity letters. In the classroom, he earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll en route to his degree.
Dennis received numerous awards during his career, including:
* 1994 Award of Courage by the Louisville chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame
* 1994 UK Walk-on of the Year by the Louisville chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame
* 1995 Arete Award for Courage in Sports by Intersport Television
* 1996 Gene Autry Award of Courage by the California Angels and the Tempe (Ariz.) Sports Authority
Dennis lives in Lexington with his wife and three children. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Arete Ventures, Inc., a commercial construction company.

Four Former Tigers Sign Free Agent Deals Following NFL Draft

AUBURN - Four former Auburn football players who went undrafted during the 2008 NFL draft have signed free agent deals with NFL teams.
Tight end Cole Bennett signed with the Houston Texans, wide receiver Prechae Rodriguez signed with the New York Jets, running back Carl Stewart signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and defensive tackle Josh Thompson signed with the St. Louis Rams.
Bennett had 29 catches for 312 yards with three touchdowns during his career, and ranks ninth all-time at Auburn in receptions (29) and receiving yards (312) by a tight end.
Rodriguez played in 36 games in three seasons at Auburn, catching 38 passes for 530 yards (13.9 ypc) including a pair of touchdowns.
Stewart, who ranks third all-time at Auburn in receiving yards by a running back, rushed for 482 career yards on 128 attempts (3.8 ypc) with nine touchdowns, and had 39 receptions for 612 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Thompson, who played in 49 career games while starting his last 26, recorded 138 tackles, including 11.0 tackles for loss (-26) and one sack (-7) during his career.
In addition to the four players who signed as free agents, five Tigers were selected in the NFL draft: Quentin Groves (52nd overall by Jacksonville), Patrick Lee (60th overall by Green Bay), Pat Sims (77th overall by Cincinnati), Jonathan Wilhite (129th overall by New England) and King Dunlap (230th overall by Philadelphia).

Five Bulldogs Sign NFL Free Agent Contracts
ATHENS, Ga. --- Five former Georgia football players have signed NFL free agent contracts since the league's draft wrapped up on Sunday.
Three of the former Bulldogs signed with three teams from the NFC. Brandon Miller (upper left) of Colquitt signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons, Kregg Lumpkin of Lithonia signed with the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks picked up Kelin Johnson (right) of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Two other Georgia lettermen signed contracts with a pair of AFC teams. Sean Bailey of Alpharetta signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and Fernando Velasco of Wrens signed a deal with the Tennessee Titans.

UK now has seven players from the 2007 senior class involved with the National Football League as quarterback André Woodson (New York Giants), tight end Jacob Tamme (Indianapolis), wide receiver Keenan Burton (St. Louis) and wide receiver Steve Johnson (Buffalo) were drafted on Sunday.
Scott began his collegiate career as a tight end also played defensive end before moving to the offensive line his junior season. He emerged as the team’s starting center his senior year, helping the Wildcats generate a school-record 475 points in the 2007 season. UK also generated 5,764 yards total offense, second in school history. Kentucky averaged 155.5 rushing yards per game, the team’s best mark in 12 years, while leading the Southeastern Conference in passing offense.
Little is one of the greatest, most versatile players in Kentucky history. He rushed for 2,996 yards as a Wildcat, including two 1,000-yard seasons. He is one of only three players in SEC history with 2,500 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in a career. Also a dangerous punt returner, he averaged 14.2 yards per return during his career, second all-time at UK.
Woodyard was a first-team All-SEC choice as a junior and senior, leading the league with 139 tackles as a senior. He reached the 100-tackle mark each of his last three seasons, leading the team each year.
